Abstract

The aim of the article is to review the classic theoretical approaches to the category of sociotherapy
present in the literature on the subject. The author places sociotherapy in the area of psychological
assistance, also pointing to the pedagogical (especially educational) context of sociotherapeutic
practices. He emphasizes that sociotherapy, in addition to corrective and therapeutic effects, also
has a deeper compensatory meaning. The effect of effective sociotherapy is to equip children and
adolescents with the resources to cope with life independently.
